Uru Wharua (West Valley) Marae or Marae #2 will be apart of The West Valley City Arts and Heritage Center and is planned to be built at 3100 South 1400 West in West Valley City. In conjunction with the building of the for-mentioned Heritage center, West Valley City has offered the land as part of their project and invited the Kia Ngawari Marae leaders an opportunity to build a Second Marae in the Salt Lake Valley. The name Uru Wharua is temporary in order to give it a title. The construction for this project (West Valley City Arts & Heritage Park)  - Phase 1 of 3 is scheduled to begin in the Summer of 2002, with a ground breaking planned for June 1st, 2002. Our Kapahaka groups will conduct a Powhiri for the occasion and the Goshute Indian Tribal Elders (Tangata Whenua) will offer the blessing on the land. The Marae #2 project will not start probably until phase 3 and will only be the Wharenui. Adjacent to it will be a multipurpose cultural center for functions, shows etc. This project will come under the KIA NGAWARI MARAE, Inc. (phase 2)
