NGAWARI MARAE, Inc
Well the cold weather patterns from the North is settling into the Mountain Regions of the Inter Mountain West again. Ski resorts have a good 4-6ft of snow base for the coming ski season and these kiwis are preparing for hibernation mode. Ah! but for members of the Hiona kapahaka & Hangi group have not been idle to say the lease over these cold wintry months, with the many Christmas and New Year luaus (Hangi) that are scheduled. Usually we break from kapahaka and each other after Thanksgiving weekend (last Thursday in November) but several companies and church groups wanted a taste of a warm South Pacific Christmas to take their minds of the cold winter weather outside. However, little do they realize, we have to cook a hangi in that weather, but they are willing to pay for our sacrifices and besides we get a free feed each time and have a lot of fun.
We would like to point your attention to the Marae Panui (Notice board) for details of the goings on in the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding states or the Maramataka o Kapahaka (Culture calendar) for scheduled luaus (hangi's) and performances. We do take the time to have fun as well, mainly when the weather warms up.
We wish you a most successful year of 2005 and may you enjoy life to the utmost.
Just a word of thanks for everyone's help & support with hosting visitors from Aotearoa throughout the 2004 year, its been exciting and there is lots more to come.
He tino hari kua tutataki me mahi tatou (Its good that we meet & work together). Kia ora koutou katoa.
