Ruben
D. McEwen "Mac" Ruben D. "Mac" McEwen completed his
earthly journey December 30, 2005, returning to the loving arms of
Heavenly Father and his eternal companion, Marge. Mac was born September
6, 1918 in Arkansas but was raised in California. Looking for adventure he
joined the Navy right after high school, and adventure was what he found.
He was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and served through World War
II. His deep love of country was surpassed only by his love for his wife
and family, ultimately he chose his family over a military career. He
and Marge served an LDS Mission in New Zealand and as a result of their
time in New Zealand, he extended his family to include all the loving and
wonderful people he met there. Our father, grandfather and friend, has
been a loving example to us all. He was accepting, understanding, and
always loved a good tease. He will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.
He is survived by three children, Gayle Jacobson (Neil), Demont J. (Cheri)
McEwen, RaeDean (Jerry) Hatch; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren
and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father, mother,
brother, sister and beloved wife, Marge. Funeral services Tuesday, January
3, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State where friends may
call Monday 6-8 p.m. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.![]() Published in the Salt Lake Tribune from 12/31/2005 - 1/1/2006. |
