Catching the Knowledge Wave is a joint initiative by the NZ Government in partnership with the University of Auckland, supported by business and community groups. The goal is to find practical ways to secure New Zealand's long-term future as a smarter, more prosperous and successful country. The project will culminate in the Catching the Knowledge Wave conference in Auckland August 1-3 2001.
The project offers a chance for all New Zealanders, including those living overseas, to have a say about New Zealand's future. Attached is a survey being conducted by a private firm, LEK Consulting, on behalf of the NZ Government seeking the views of New Zealanders living and working overseas. The survey, known as The Talent Initiative, seeks to gather information on factors that influence New Zealand's ability to attract and retain skilled people and the results will feed into the conference and contribute towards the government's policy development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is assisting with the dissemination of the survey. The survey is entirely voluntary and individual responses will not be released to government, business or third parties. Data gathered from the surveys will only be released in aggregate. We appreciate that everyone leads busy lives, so the survey has been designed so that it should only take about 5 minutes to complete.
We encourage you to participate by completing the survey and returning it directly to LEK by 15 June 2001 either by e-mail talent_project@lek.com or by fax 011 64 9 976 6444. We would also appreciate your assistance in distributing this to other New Zealanders you know who might be interested in participating.
