Rose Heimberg 01/24/30 ~12/16/02 SALT LAKE CITY - Our beloved
mother, wife, "Nana", sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt,
and dear friend to so many, Rose, age 72, returned to her Father in Heaven
on December 16, 2002, following a myriad of decade- long courageous
battles with cancer. True to her strong and tenacious spirit, she endured
until the end, surrounded by her spouse, children, and grandchildren.
Born to Iraiha Palmer and Dolly Ngawaka on the Great Barrier Island
off beautiful New Zealand's coast, her humble beginning prepared her for a
life which encircled the world. Burdened with unending pain and illness
commencing at age 5, she found her true calling as a life-long and loyal
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rose served an
L.D.S. mission on New Zealand's North Island in the early fifties. Married
Fritz "Frank" Heimberg of Thun Switzerland, an immigrant to New
Zealand, on May 5, 1956. Tears were shed by those who knew her when in
1960 and 1961, respectively, she miraculously gave birth to Swen and
Moana. Moved to Berne, Switzerland in 1971. Relocated to Salt Lake
City in 1977, where for 20 years, she remained in the employ of the L.D.S.
Church's Temple Department. Retired in 1997. Her life of service and
dedication was second to none. Post-retirement, she continued to volunteer
as a hostess at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and as a caregiver to
Salt Lake City's homeless - despite increasing bouts with illness. Rose's
faith was matched only by her undying devotion to serving others. Your
"smart girls" and hockey player "mokos" will miss you
dearly, to include your superb cooking abilities, as will all of your
family and friends. Survived by her loving and caring husband, Frank
Heimberg, Salt Lake City, sister Kura (Steven) Keksz, Auckland New
Zealand, children Swen (Leslie), Salt Lake City, Moana Heimberg-Dukoff
(Barry) Malibu, CA; grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Alexandra, Justine,
Jordan, and Colton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children, both
here and abroad. Funeral services to be held Friday, December 20,
2002 at 12 noon at the Salt Lake 14th. Ward chapel (142 W. 200 No.),
President James E. Faust of the First Presidency presiding. Interment at
Salt Lake City Cemetery. Viewing to be held Thursday, December 19,
2002, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Bros. Mortuary, 255 So. 200 E., Salt Lake
City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society. Online guest book and directional maps available at www.russonmortuary.com.
